Gender Equality & GBV

At Enhancement of Youth and Women Empowerment in Development (EYWED), we believe that gender equality is essential for sustainable community development. Our Gender Equality and GBV Program aims to promote equal opportunities for women and men, empower vulnerable groups, and eliminate all forms of gender-based violence through advocacy, education, and community action

Our Focus Areas

1. Gender Equality Promotion

We work to ensure that women and men enjoy the same rights, opportunities, and respect in all areas of life — education, employment, leadership, and decision-making.
Our efforts include:

  • Gender awareness campaigns in schools and communities

  • Leadership training for women and girls

  • Male engagement sessions promoting positive masculinity

  • Policy advocacy for gender-inclusive development

2. Prevention of Gender-Based Violence (GBV)

EYWED actively addresses GBV by promoting safety, dignity, and justice for all survivors.
Key activities include:

  • Community sensitization on GBV prevention

  • Capacity building for local leaders and youth champions

  • Support referral systems linking survivors to relevant services

  • Public awareness through media, art, and digital platforms

Our Approach

We take a community-centered approach, empowering young people, women, and men to become change agents in their own communities.
Our strategies combine:

  • Education and skills training

  • Advocacy and policy dialogue

  • Partnerships with government, civil society, and local leaders
